Definition of the word: Blast Rechargers
Blast Rechargers - A series of items included as mandatory equipment on all interstellar crafts of war, transport or exploration. Although the exact use, function or purpose of Blast Rechargers is as yet unknown--the information remains classified and hypothetical reverse techno-engineers remain befuddled--they are among the most common items throughout the mechanical Universe. Thanks in no small part to a no-bid contract with a powerful space contractor, the Galactic Front of Sentient Worlds has mandated the inclusion of Blast Rechargers on every space-faring mission regardless of purpose or objective. Fortunately a single Blast Recharger can last as long as a few months and only costs the equivalent of a single planet’s entire gross domestic product of just under a day. Many planets have been forced to surrender their space programs due to the cost of Blast Rechargers, but those are the races that have no business being in space in the first place. If they’re worth inclusion in the Encyclopedia Intergalactica, it is generally believed that more financially viable races will seek them out, love their women slowly and passionately, and include them in a footnote at an appropriate time as the mood shall move them to do so. The notion of Blast Rechargers stems from ancient New Terran times—back when the planet was still called "Earth"—when governmental agencies were commonly known to pay hundreds of dollars for toilet seats, scuttle their own ships for fun and private-sector profit, and purchase billions of dollars in software, hardware and weaponry only to leave it to rot in storage. These policies served to stimulate the ancient New Terran economy. The Blast Rechargers do no less for our modern world. It is widely believed by some that Blast Rechargers are nothing more than empty cardboard boxes with small stickers on the corner labeled "BR." But regardless of what it is or what it does, you do not want to get caught by a Space Guard Interceptor without them onboard any more than you want to get caught without proper papers or in receipt of illegal livestock (e.g. convicted felons).
