Chapter 2 – A Hero He Is, Yes, But Also Still A Man (page-3)
"Next time, I'll leave my resipartment ten megaseconds earlier," I offered roguishly.
It almost felt wrong to create this whole world in my head where she would finally be my puppet, but at the same time I didn’t care and besides there are no refunds on these things.
"Well, you should, so that you get here on time," Tracy countered masterfully. "Joanna Valentine, wants, to see, you," she said, hogging up a half pages comma quotient in an all too common program glitch.
Joanna Valentine was the Alpha Squad Commander, who ran the entire Alpha Squad program with the sort of steely efficiency and a decisive femininity I’d made verbatim mention of while experiencing this experience the first time. When she wanted to see you, you had better drive your skycycle in the express lane, so that you got there on time. "Oh, she does, does she?" I responded with tongue most clever. “That bat don’t scare me, I got my sites on something else.”
"Yes, Joanna Valentine wants to see you," Tracy re-repeated, and then continued, "I wanted to see you too."
I let my voice drop to its natural, husky manliness. “Then open your eyes, baby doll, and feast on the buffet you see before you.”
