Definition of the word: Spirg

Spirg - A measurement of time akin to about three-days. The term is generally disregarded by even the biggest word-snobs on account of how entirely needless it is, much like such other obscure measurements of time such as "fortnight", "score", "light second" or "jiff". Still, despite all its inherent pomp and pointlessness, the majority of memoireers employ it regularly to make them sound slightly more intelligent than they actually are, and only thanks to a costly Thesaurus program designed for the sole purpose of affording the simple the opportunity to sound unduly verbose.
