Cigarette Lighter - Amongst the most common creature comfort accessories available to space craft, the cigarette lighter is perhaps the most common. Although the rich, savory, wafting smoke from cigarettes virtually destroys the carbon scrubbers that keep the air in transit breathable to passengers, the personal right to smoke refreshing cigarettes is one of the few that is still considered inalienable. It took a lot of time, energy, engineering dedication and campaign contributions, but the right was extended to the point where the New Terran Exploratoria Committee conceded that, as sure as smoking is a God-given right whilst traveling the universe, the installation of cigarette lighters no less than once every eight linear feet of the ships interior is likewise mandatory.

Cigarette lighters are a limited short circuit that one pushes in, waits for, and then, once it pops out, witnesses the magnificence of glowing red-hot coil so seductive that children still feel the insatiable desire to place it to their scarred, ruined humanolips.
